The image above shows how much of an impact on the design and beauty of the home can be with a quality timber product. To have a finished product like this you have to start with a quality natural wood timber product.
Cedar - Western Red Cedar has been around for centuries and is sought after because of its versatility in that it can be used in a commercial, residential or industrial setting. This material is also dependable and durable. Western Red Cedar has superior physical properties to other wood species to where it has a greater resistance to twisting, warping and rotting. Cedar is widely used in interior building applications because it is more flame-resistant than most woods. All products are Green (not kiln dried)
Cypress - Cypress is a versatile natural wood species that is well suited for exterior and interior applications. Timbers and Beams can be rough sawn or finished smooth in a variety of sizes. Cypress has a beautiful natural grain with a light yellow-brown color but takes a stain or paint very well. Cypress heartwood has a naturally occurring preservative called cypressene. This makes Cypress an excellent choice of product because it is resistant to insects, rot, and decay. All products are Green (not kiln dried) Grade: #2 and better
Rough Sawn - These products have a surface texture that is not finished so it will retain that rustic band sawn texture that is perfect for use outdoors. They take stain very well and will maintain a rich color longer than a finished S4S product when exposed to the weather.
Surfaced on all four sides (S4S) - These products start off as rough sawn but undergo an additional pass through a planer to clean up the appearance of the wood. A uniform smooth surface is created and these products will have an overall measurement that is less than rough sawn products. They can be stained in a variety of colors or left to naturally weather. Typically these are used for interior applications such as ceiling beams or structural timbers.
